The N2 between George and Knysna is arguably the single best hour of driving on the entire Garden Route — indigenous forest, lake views, and the famous descent toward the Knysna Heads where the lagoon opens out to the Indian Ocean between two sandstone cliffs. It's the drive that makes a convertible worth having in the first place, and it's the reason Knysna is our most-requested destination.
Once in town, Thesen Islands, the Knysna Waterfront, and the ferry out to Featherbed Nature Reserve are all a short walk from the centre, while the Knysna Elephant Park and the forest canopy tours sit just outside town for a longer day out. Oyster season (roughly June to September) turns Knysna into a genuine food destination too — the Z4's boot is small, but there's always room for a dozen oysters on ice for the drive back.
